.
Step One
We did not get as ill as we did Emotionally, Psychically, Mentally, Financially, Spiritually in 28 days or even 3 months.
One of the largest and most common mistakes people make when they start the recovery process is they underestimate the process.
If alcohol and drugs were the problem then being spun dried in detox is all people would need.
People get into Detox 3-14 days
Then they spend from 28-60 Days in Primary care
where they start by getting their health back.
with nutrition and daily work outs.
Most will have blood work done for liver checks and STD'S
Then many will have the hurdle of getting sleep patterns back.
For some personal Hygiene will be restored or added.
If medication such as antidepressants - Suboxone and Vivitrol is needed Doctors will run test and monitor that.
Of course they will meet with therapist and case managers. For one on one's and group counseling.
and work on underlying issues.
They will attend lectures on the disease concept.
And attend 12 step groups.
Some will attend family week.
Relationships and Resentments are just starting to be dealt with and reality is becoming clearer. To say a person is near ready to go out on their own would not be impossible though in most cases it would help tremendously for people to be in a structured environment for at least another 4 months and up to 8 months it is one of those things where it would not hurt and it might be the best thing in the world.
Between 4 months and 12 months so many changes will be taking place. It is better to stay focused.
If there was a quicker way
that worked for the masses
I would be all for it. Being on the firing lines I am confident that is not the case.
